In the challenging Silk Route Ultra Marathon held in Ladakh, Kailash Jain, a 56-year-old ultra-marathon runner, won a gold medal in his age category. Jain ran an impressive 122 kilometers to achieve this feat.

The marathon is known for its tough and rugged terrain, making it one of the most demanding races in the world. Jain completed the race in 19 hours and 44 minutes, showcasing incredible determination and willpower.

The race began at 7:00 PM on September 5 and continued through the night. Participants, including Jain, had to run for 10 hours with headlamps due to the dark conditions.

This victory marks Jain's second consecutive win. He also secured a gold medal in the Khardungla Challenge in 2023, where he ran 72 kilometers.

The Silk Route Ultra Marathon is an extreme high-altitude race covering 122 km. It begins at approximately 10,500 feet above sea level, crosses Khardung La at 18,000 feet, and finishes at Leh Market, also at 10,500 feet. This challenging course makes it one of the toughest foot races globally.
