Udaipur, March 20, 2025 - An international-standard synthetic athletics track is being built at Maharana Pratap Sports Complex, Udaipur. This track will be ready by April, allowing athletes to practice and compete in national and international athletics competitions. So far, athletes in Udaipur train on mud tracks at Gandhi Ground and MB Ground, increasing the risk of injuries. With the new track at the sports complex, players will be able to train as per international standards.

District Sports Officer Mahesh Paliwal said that the work on the track will be finished by the end of April. The tarring is done, and a synthetic layer will be added next. Once completed, the track will be handed over to the sports department, and special coaches will be appointed for training.

The previous Congress government had allocated Rs 7.50 crore for this project. The track will be 400 meters long with 8 lanes, allowing eight athletes to run together, following international standards.
