Udaipur makes its place in Top-25 in India Cycles4Change Challenge

The objective of this competition is to create awareness regarding benefits of cycling for health and creating pollution free environment.

-Out of the 95 participating cities, Udaipur made its place among the Top-25.

-If Udaipur wins the next challenge to be held among the Top-25, 1 crore rupees will be given as reward. 

Ministry of Housing and Development organised a cycling competition under India Cycle4Change Challenge where 95 cities participated and Udaipur made its place in the Top-25 list. The competition was organised with the objective of creating awareness towards the benefits of cycling for health and creating pollution free environment.

The Cycle4Change Challenge is an initiative of the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, to inspire and support the Indian cities to implement cycling friendly initiatives in response to Covid-19. The challenge was launched in June 2020.

Now that Udaipur has made it to Top-25, it has a chance of winning 1 crore rupees as reward if it wins the next challenge to be held among the Top-25. This reward money will be used for developments of cycling projects which include cycle rental scheme, creating cycling lanes etc. The SEO of Smart City project informed that the competition aims at creating awareness regarding cycling and also creating safe cycling lanes. A 1 kilometre track has been made at Goverdhan Vilas-Balicha service road and more tracks are likely to be made in future.

If Udaipur wins among the Top-25, then experts of international level will provide support and guidance on how to create permanent interventions to encourage cycling in the city. All the very best to Udaipur team.
