In what could be taken as a temporary setback to the Horse and Camel Ride operators at the various tourist spots in Udaipur, the committee decided to put a temporary halt on this activity. This has been decided to facilitate certain protocols that needed to be in place for official operations of the activity.
UT reporters spoke to Dhanpal Singh (48), who is in this business and operates his rides at Fatehsagar. He said, “In Mewar culture, importance of horse rides can’t be ignored. If you ban such things then what would be left for the tourists to get a ‘Mewari’ taste”. He also said, “I do nearly 5-6 rounds a day and on an average earn Rs 300 from these horse and camel rides. I then have to feed my family of five including myself, plus food for these animals. What would I do, after they put a stop on these rides?”
The decisions also include organizing the Shahpura Vegetables Market, sending a reminder to the Directorate about pending bills of Kiosks setup by the council, contracts for the parking spots outside Sukhadia Circle (worth Rs. 4.61 lacs). It was also decided in the meeting, that the related tenders for Fatahsagar and Dudhtalai would be issued again.
A discussion on the Water Dispensers (piau) took place at the meeting, where it has been decided to take a report on the non-operational units and removal of advertisements and posters from all units. Past dues of the advertisements boards in the city will also be discussed in the next meeting.
