Muslims of Udaipur expressed their serious concern over the recently published news in international media stating that Saudi Government is planning to demolish Prophet Muhammad’s tomb located in Medina and relocate Prophet’s remain to an anonymous location.
Anjuman Talimul Islam, a local social organization of Muslims in Udaipur presented a memorandum to district administration and said, ”Muslims all over the world are very distressed by such news and warn Saudi government for severe reaction.”
The controversial proposal by Saudi Arabian government is part of their Salafi/Wahabi ideology, which believes that visiting any tomb or saint is against the Islamic principal of monotheism and considered forbidden.
Representatives of Talimul Islam said, “Medina where Prophet Muhammad’s tomb is located is one of the holiest Islamic places of worship. Millions of pilgrims visit Medina every year and specially during Hajj.”
As per reports by International media, demolition of Prophet’s tomb could also spark unrest in Muslim world and might provoke sectarian violence between Shia and Sunni. Salafi/Wahabi is one of the branches from mainstream Sunni sect of Islam.
