On July 16, 2024, UDA commenced excavation at Nela Talab using JCB machines. This initiative aims to improve the pond's aesthetics and enhance its capacity to retain rainwater.
Local councillor Santosh Menaria had previously urged the UDA to take action after reports of dead fish in the pond. Following these concerns, officials decided to initiate the excavation.
As the digging began, some landowners arrived with documents asserting their claims. They expressed that stones placed on their property should remain undisturbed. The landowners also called on the government to acquire land necessary for the pond's expansion and to provide appropriate compensation.
