Udaipur Passport Seva Kendra Relocated to Lake City Mall

Udaipur, Aug 25, 2025:  The Passport Seva Kendra at Udaipur has been relocated to the Lake City Mall, situated on Ayad Bridge. The earlier premises at Subhash Nagar opposite BN College, will no longer house this centre.

As per media reports, the previous building was constructed by the Udaipur Municipal Corporation and handed over to the Ministry of External, to house the Passport Seva Kendra. Ever since the PSK has been housed at Udaipur, lakhs of residents have benefitted from this services in the entire Mewar belt. As per reports, the UMC has yet to be paid for the construction (Rs 34 lakh) and Rs 54 Lakh since the services were taken over by TCS. The MEA was permitted to use the building without paying any rental.

However, after 2022, when the government outsourced the Passport related services to Tata Consultancy Services, there has been a dispute related to the usage of the premises. In order to improve services, TCS demanded that certain changes be made. Now that the work was being handled by a private firm, the UMC demanded a monthly rental of Rs 1.5 lakh with permission to TCS to make all the necessary changes. TCS, as per media reports, however agreed to pay a monthly rental of Rs 60,000 for the premises, to which UMC did not agree. This dispute has resulted in the Rs 54.2 lakh outstanding against the rental.

TCS decided to move the PSK services from this building and the entire infrastructure has now been shifted to a new rented space in the Lake City Mall, which is in a very busy area on the Ayad bridge. This location, though being in the middle of town, could cause parking related issues to the visitors at the PSK. While the previous PSK was being operated in an area of nearly 7500 sqft, the new premises has been reduced to 5,600sqft, which is reduction of 25% in space. The new PSK houses an Enquiry Counter, Biometrics Kiosk, Appointment room and a server room amongst other facilities.
