Rajya Sabha MP Chunni Lal Garasiya put forth a proposal before the Rajya Sabha Chairman to convert the Passport Seva Kendra in Udaipur, into a Regional Passport Center.

The Passport Seva Kendra was started in 2017 by the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for the convenience of residents here and she had assured them that after 5 years this Passport Seva Kendra would be upgraded to a Regional Passport Office. Now, even after 7 years it has not been upgraded.

Currently, 300-350 applications are received at this PSK every day. Accordingly 50-60 thousand applications are received by this office every year. He requested the Chairman and said that through him Udaipur demands from the Government of India that efforts should be made to convert the Passport Seva Kendra of Udaipur into a Regional Passport Office so that the people of the tribal dominated areas of Udaipur, which includes Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittor, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Salumber, etc. can get benefitted. The entire Mewar Wagad belt will benefit from this upgradation.
