Udaipur: Strict Action Against Overspeeding and Drunk Driving

Udaipur, January 3, 2025 - The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is observing the National Road Safety Month from January 1 to 31, under the theme "Parvah," across the country. The district is actively participating in this initiative to raise awareness about road safety.

Meeting Held for Road Safety Activities

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, District Collector Arvind Poswal held a meeting with officials and stakeholders. The meeting was aimed at ensuring the successful and effective organization of road safety activities in Udaipur during the month.

District Collector Poswal expressed concern over the daily occurrence of road accidents. He emphasized the importance of organizing awareness activities to prevent such accidents. The Collector stressed that all departments should work together to address these issues.

Poswal directed the concerned officials to take action against overspeeding and drunk driving. He also urged them to tackle dangerous black spots and technical issues on roads that contribute to accidents.

Planned Activities for Awareness

During the meeting, various activities planned by different departments for National Road Safety Month were shared. These activities aim to raise awareness and educate the public about road safety.

Helmet and Reflector Rules Enforced

As per regulations, wearing a helmet is mandatory for all drivers. Additionally, vehicles without reflectors are being fitted with reflectors as part of the ongoing safety campaign.

Campaign to Prevent Road Accidents

A transport department official highlighted that this special campaign has been launched based on instructions from the ministry. He also shared the alarming statistics that approximately 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents every year. Of these, at least 10,000 to 12,000 deaths occur in Rajasthan, which is a significant number.
