Roads in Udaipur city are dug up just everywhere. Be it for cable lines or sewerage pipe lines…everywhere the incomplete road work is causing trouble. More so, with the arrival of pre-monsoon rains, the condition has become pathetic. People on two-wheelers are in for a great danger especially during night hours. Even four-wheelers are falling prey every now and then.

One such incident occurred on Monday when the wheels of a tourist bus got stuck in the dug-up portion of the road where sewerage line work was going on. The road on Saheli marg was dug for sewerage work and left as is which caused enough terror in the passengers of the bus.

A bus full of tourists from Gujarat was heading towards Saheliyon ki Bari on Monday. There were around 40 tourists in the bus who were on their way to visit the garden after visiting Haldighati. Because of pre-monsoon rains, the road was covered with water and the dug-up portion was not visible. The driver could not make out that he was heading into danger. The moment the bus reached near water resource department, it lost balance as its wheels got stuck in the road which subsided under the weight of the bus.

All the tourists got scared and somehow managed to move out of the bus. This is when they got to know that the road was not mended after sewerage work and rain water covered the massive pot holes. The tourists raised a hue and cry and threatened of a protest. It was after this reaction of the tourists that the contractor’s representative reached and assured that the bus would be pulled out using a crane.

It may be noted that on Sunday night, a truck faced the same situation on this road.
