Independence Day, which falls on Thursday, August 15,2024, has prompted heightened security measures. The police are on high alert as preparations for the district-level ceremony at Gandhi Ground continue. Personnel have been deployed from the bus stand to the airport to ensure safety.
ASP Umesh Ojha announced that entry to Gandhi Ground is restricted to the general public for the Independence Day program. Security guards are stationed at the venue, and city patrolling has been increased. At key locations such as the airport, railway station, and bus stand, officers with sniffer dogs are on duty, keeping a close watch on suspicious individuals.
All vehicles without number plates or with dark-tinted windows will be thoroughly checked. Special surveillance is in place for external vehicles entering the city. Station officers and security agencies are inspecting hotels, lodges, and guesthouses. Hotel managers have been instructed to report any suspicious persons immediately.
Before the Gandhi Ground event, a CID team will inspect the entire area, including the stadium, with assistance from dog and bomb squads. During the event, police teams will be present in plain clothes and warm attire to maintain security.
