The Smart City Project in Udaipur is nearing completion of Phase-1, with plans for Phase-2 already underway. Udaipur is among the cities selected for Phase-2, focusing primarily on solid waste management initiatives. An estimated budget of approximately Rs 1.35 crore has been proposed for waste management efforts in Udaipur. However, the final decision rests with the Central Ministry of Urban Development.
Dr. Chandraprakash Jeenger, a renowned solid waste management expert from Jaipur, has been awarded the contract for Phase-2 activities in Udaipur. He and his team will prepare a detailed project report (DPR), expected to take about three months to complete.
To facilitate the implementation of Phase-2, training sessions will be conducted by the Ministry of Urban Development in Delhi. Notably, Udaipur officials are set to participate in these sessions.
Furthermore, in line with the Solid Waste Management Project, land has been earmarked in Kaya village by the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA). This land will host a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), integrating waste segregation practices and powered by solar energy.
