Udaipur Tales

A Press conference for Udaipur Tales took place on 10 January 2024 at the Park Exotica Resort, Udaipur. Udaipur Tales is an International Storytelling Festival, reviving the timeless art of storytelling. The previous editions of the event have achieved remarkable success by providing a global stage for storytellers to showcase their talents. 

The upcoming 5th edition of Udaipur Tales is all set to start from 12 January 2024 to 14 January 2024, at the Park Exotica Resort in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The 3-day festival will celebrate diverse storytelling genres such as Contemporary, Romance, Dastangoi, Historical, Mystery, Horror, Thriller, Kavad (Ancient Rajasthani Storytelling), and Folk, among others. 

This unique blend promises an enriching and engaging experience for all who appreciate the art of storytelling. 

This year the festival will feature renowned storytellers including Mita Vashisht, a prolific theatre artist, and Film & TV actor; Rebecca Lemaire, a British-Belgian storyteller from Spain; Gautam Agarwal, a director & film actor, famous for spinning tales based on his research on mystical, geographical and historical findings; Syed Sahil Agha, who specializes in performing Dastangoi, a 13th-century Urdu art of oral Storytelling; Adhaar Khurana, an actor, writer, and director from the Indian film industry; Gautam Mukerjee, an author, entrepreneur and teacher by profession and a charismatic story narrator by passion; Ulka Mayur who is famous for presenting folklore, myths, sufi tradition stories, contemporary tales and original stories using elements of theatre, music, and dance; Akshay Gandhi, one of the few Kavad storytellers in the country, and Anjana Chandak, a multi-talented performing artist from Bengaluru. That's not all, the festival will have some of the most celebrated artists like Rahgir, an independent artist from Rajasthan who is known for his soulful folk music. He became nationwide famous for his songs "Kya Jaipur Kya Dilli", and "Mere Gaon Aoge". 

He has performed at various noteworthy platforms like Sahitya Aaj Tak Festival, Jashne Rekhta, Anjas Festival, etc.; Zia Nath, an international performer of sacred dances whirling Mandala. She performs and teaches Sufi & Gurdjieff dances; YUGAM, a folk fusion band; Naya Savera, a unique band comprising former inmates of Udaipur Central Jail; Out of the box, a fantastic Sufi music group comprising of inmates of Udaipur Jail, will mesmerize the audience with their performances.

The festival's main attractions will be centered around the vibrant Bazaar and Jamghat areas, featuring an array of stalls from renowned brands and artists. Among the participants are Maati by Neha Kabra, Knot So Easy by Drishti Bhatt, Bougainville Art Gallery, Fikri and Bejo by Kriti Manan Nahar, Maahru Silver Jewellery, Patola Saree, Rias Jaipur, and many other distinguished names.

These curated stalls promise a diverse and enriching shopping experience for festival attendees. The festival can allow only 300 people, and entry to the festival is at INR 200. Registration for attending the festival can be done via the official website of Udaipur Tales or BookMyShow. Passes will be available for collection at the venue 1 hour 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the event.
