After a halt of nearly three months, the Forest Department of Rajasthan has resumed its tree distribution activities under the 'Tree Outside Forest' scheme. Preparations are now underway for an extensive plantation drive during the monsoon, with the Forest Department gearing up to distribute 26 lakh saplings of 90 different species. These saplings have been cultivated across 43 nurseries in Udaipur and Salumbar districts.

What is Tree Outside Forest Scheme?

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Arijit Banerjee, lifted the suspension on tree distribution, marking the onset of the monsoon season. The department had previously halted distribution on April 5, 2024.

QR Codes in All Udaipur Nurseries

This year, the state government aims to engage various government departments and the public in the plantation initiative. In Udaipur district, authorities have crafted a comprehensive action plan to plant nearly 20 lakh saplings. To streamline the process, QR codes have been implemented in all nurseries across the district. These codes enable departments acquiring saplings to check their availability, maintain records, and facilitate online payments seamlessly.

The 'Tree Outside Forest' scheme represents a collaborative effort to enhance green cover and promote environmental sustainability across Rajasthan. With monsoon rains providing favourable conditions for tree growth, officials are optimistic about achieving their ambitious plantation targets this season.
