Udaipur, October 30, 2025: A sum of Rs. 101.47 Crore has been lying unclaimed in 2,86,243 Bank Accounts across Udaipur district. These accounts are awaiting their rightful heirs for many years now. In Banking parlance, these are called Unclaimed Deposits. To ensure that these unclaimed deposits reach the rightful owners, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the Aapki Poonji Aapka Adhikar ("Your Capital, Your Rights") campaign, under the direction of the Finance Ministry of the Government of India.
As part of this campaign, a special camp will be held in Udaipur on Saturday, November 1, at 10:00 am, under the chairmanship of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, at the Solitaire Resort located on 100 Feet Road, opposite Opera Garden, Shobhagpura. Officials from all banks, including SBI, SEBI, insurance companies, and pension funds will be present at the camp.
Lead District Manager Sanjay Kumar Gupta explained that due to lack of awareness or sometimes, by accident, individuals are unable to declare heirs to their bank accounts or other assets while they are alive. Consequently, after their death, their assets remain unclaimed and idle in banks or other financial institutions like insurance companies. To ensure this money reaches the rightful heirs, the RBI has launched the "Your Capital, Your Rights" campaign. The camp will provide information on unclaimed deposits, unclaimed insurance claims, unclaimed dividends, unclaimed shares, and mutual funds, as well as assistance with the claim process.
Unclaimed Deposits Portal
Lead District Manager Gupta explained that any citizen can access information on unclaimed deposits through the RBI's UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits Gateway to Access Information) portal. They can also find out which bank holds unclaimed deposits by using the name of any member of their family. First, visit the official website of the UDGAM portal. If you're using it for the first time, you'll need to register by entering your mobile number. If you're already registered, log in using your details.
After logging in, you'll need to enter some essential details to search for unclaimed deposits, such as the account holder's name, PAN number, Aadhaar number, voter ID, or date of birth. This portal allows you to access information about unclaimed deposits in 30 banks. Once you've identified the bank with which your unclaimed deposit is held, contact that bank's website or branch directly.
The bank will provide information on the process for claiming unclaimed deposits. Required documents (identity proof, address proof, and proof of deposit) must be submitted when making a claim. Claims for refunds must be filed through the respective bank.
