Udaipur Municipal Election 2026: Record Voter Turnout at 69.77%
UdaipurTimes, Sept 12, 2026 - Udaipur went to vote yesterday, September 11, to elect municipal councillors for 80 wards from 410 polling stations during the civic elections held across Rajasthan in two phases. In Udaipur, 10 new wards were going to vote for the first time.
The city registered a record voter turnout of 69.77 per cent which is nearly 12% higher than the voter turnout recorded in the previous election.
Voting was also held in 20 wards each of the Mavli and Kanod municipalities. With this, the fate of a total of 331 candidates, including 220 candidates contesting the Udaipur Nagar Nigam seats, has been sealed in ballot boxes the counting of which will be done on September 14.
A total of 416,143 voters are registered in the Udaipur Nagar Nigam area. Of them 290,343 exercised their right to vote. Mavli has 8,198 registered voters while Kanod has 9,395 registered voters.
The morning saw a slow start, with 12.06 per cent voting recorded by 10:00 am. After noon, the number of voters increased, leading to long queues at polling booths. By 1:00 pm, 39.21 per cent of votes had been cast. The figure rose to 52.13 per cent by 3:00 pm and reached 67.26 percent by 6:00 pm. The final voter turnout registered was at 69.77%.
