Udaipur, January 24, 2025 - In Udaipur's walled city area, slippery road conditions on sloping ghats have been causing accidents. To resolve this issue, Udaipur Smart City initiated the work of roughening roads on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The process started on the road from Jagdish Chowk to Ghantaghar using a brooming machine.
Focus on High-Risk Areas
The Udaipur Municipal Corporation will also address slippery roads at Lal Ghat, Nani Gali, Kasaro Ki Ol, Kishanpol, and Khanjipeer. These areas have seen several accidents due to the smoothness of cement concrete (CC) roads, which are 3-4 years old.
Smart City ACEO K.P. Singh Chauhan explained that continuous vehicle movement has made the roads smooth. Additionally, oil-laden wastewater from hotels and restaurants flows onto the roads, increasing slipperiness. Several complaints about accidents at locations like Jagdish Chowk, Ghantaghar, Lal Ghat, and Kishanpol were reported recently. Maintenance agency L&T was instructed to resolve the issue, and work began on Thursday.
Details of the Brooming Machine
Smart City Executive Engineer Dinesh Kumar Pancholi shared that the brooming machine is fully automatic and has six blades that cut 3 mm deep into the road surface. Operated by two people, it can repair up to 1.5 km of road in a single day.
