In the world where many people are suffering from kidney ailment it is an example of miracle where a woman has been discovered with not two but 3 kidneys functioning well in her body. This is one of its kind cases in the world found in a 28 year old woman from Udaipur.

Doli Bai (28), a resident of Dangion ka guda, Udaipur was admitted to M.B Hospital last month when she complained about pain in stomach. After being diagnosed; it was found that the pain was due to excessive water filled in her stomach.

Mohan Lal, husband of Doli Bai, unsatisfied from the report took his wife to GBH American Hospital where Dr. Rajesh Jain, Kidney Transplant Surgeon diagnosed her by conducting Sonography and IBP. He also came on the same conclusion from the Sonography report and advised some medicines and called them back on 24th April as the IBP report was due.

Dr. Rajesh in conversation with UT said, “In the IBP report, the fact came surprisingly that Doli Bai does not have the hollow space beneath her right kidney, like a normal being. The proof of some lump was found in the given space.”

“When diagnosed further, it was found that it’s a third kidney,” he added. They conducted Ureteropelvic Junction Reconstruction surgery on the same day. During the surgery, it was found that a vein was blocking passage between the right and the third kidney. The vein was then adjusted and a sample from the third kidney was taken.”

The sample proved the functionality of the third kidney. Doli Bai was kept under observation till 1st May, 2012.

“There are total of 80 such cases in the world and it’s the first time where an individual has all the three kidneys in working condition,” says Dr. Rajesh.
