Udaipur's First CNG Station to be setup at Mulla TalaiUdaipur’s first CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) station is going to start in a few months. The largely awaited service will be available at an upcoming Indian Oil petrol pump at Mulla Talai area near Royal Garden on the road going towards Rampura Circle.

The approval from the principals, Indian Oil came through a month ago, in favour of Udaipur based Kundan Singh Soni who has been waiting for three long years to get a CNG pump functioning in Udaipur.

“I applied to all three giants, viz. Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil and fortunately got approved by all of them; but I will go for Indian Oil”, said Soni.

The petrol pump will also give ease to motorists using the area regularly as there is no petrol pump located between Swaroop Sagar (the nearest there are the pumps at Chetak Circle) till Rampura Circle which is a part of the city.

According to Soni, the construction of the pump will start by the end of April 2013 and will take a few more months to get fully functional.

CNG is commonly used in both private and public transport as it is cheaper and creates less pollution than any other fuel.

Nearly a year back, GAIL (Gas Authority of India) has marked several cities of Rajasthan where CNG stations were proposed. Udaipur was among them.
