Uno seems to be the favourite word of the city’s passionate Kathak and Folk dancers as they conquer the National stage once again, bringing back lots of First-Prize medals

Almost every category they get in, they walk away with a first prize and a big cheer. It’s a good habit and the city’s ace Kathak champs are keeping the streak going.

At the National Dance Festival ‘Sanskriti’2019, the teams of Kala Ashram College of Performing Arts, Udaipur participated in various categories – Single, Duet and Group performances.

First- and Second-prize trophies and a thundering applause came Udaipur’s way as Hina D won in Kathak Minor Solo, Preesha N in Kathak Junior, Unnati N in folk dance, Hridaya K in Senior Solo, Tejaswini R and Anusha P in Duet and Shaheen K and Kinjal P in senior category. The team’s group performance in Folk Dance Group category, particularly, stood out for its quintessential Rajasthani impact, costumes and distinct choreography. Madhuram K also bagged the first prize in Classical music category. The festival witnessed dances in various genres with teams competing from all regions of India.

Director, Dr. Saroj Sharma was both elated and proud at this distinguished string of achievements earned by the team members. “We leave no stone unturned during our rigorous practice sessions. The hard work reverberates on the stage and it is always encouraging. We get inspired to keep doing extraordinary work and making people fall in love with dance and music all over again.”
