Udaipur is making significant strides in improving cleanliness in the city. Following a new initiative led by Punjab Governor Shri Gulabchand Kataria, city MLA Tarachand Jain, and Udaipur Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena, a comprehensive waste management plan has been set into motion.

On September 2, 2024, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation began its new responsibility for cleanliness in the UDA areas. Garbage collection vehicles were flagged off from the Municipal Corporation premises by officials and public representatives.

This new plan includes door-to-door garbage collection starting in Zone 1 and Zone 2 of the UDA area. The Municipal Corporation has already begun servicing over 26,000 homes in these zones. Tenders are currently being processed for Zones 3 and 4, with similar cleanliness measures planned for those areas soon.

Previously, the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) was in charge of waste collection, but due to resource limitations and ineffective management, this system faced many issues. Under Governor Kataria’s directions, the Municipal Corporation has taken over these responsibilities, with payment for the services being made by the UDA.

For Zones 1 and 2, a total of 46 autos have been deployed, 22 in Zone 1 and 24 in Zone 2 to manage waste collection. The Municipal Corporation will receive Rs 2.82 crore for Zone 1 and Rs 3.22 crore for Zone 2 from the UDA.

Zone 1: Savina, Video Colony, Titradi, Samta Vihar, Sarvodaya Nagar, Govardhan Vilas, Bali Cha, Dhol Ki Paati, Transport Nagar, Dakshin Vistar, Pannadhay Nagar, and Indra Nagar.

Zone 2: Meera Nagar II, Rebarion Ka Guda, Purana RTO, National Highway-76, Krishna Vihar, Dhinkli, Kochi Nagar, Pacific University, Debari, Bhairav Nagar, Dagiyon Ki Pancholi, Dholi Magri, Purohito Ki Madri, Kalabhatta, and Manwakheda.
