A roof-top restaurant was being constructed illegally in Rajiv Gandhi Park. UIT got information about this from public and taking action on this issue, demolished the construction. This restaurant was being made right next to the food court. As per the UIT Secretary, the conditions listed in the tender related to the food court will also be checked so that the exact situation can be assessed regarding this.

UIT was given the information about this roof top restaurant and it was stated that since all the administrative officials are busy in the elections, the people running the food court took advantage of the situation and started the illegal construction.

The unoccupied land next to the food court was encroached and an iron structure was erected with a staircase going up. They did this with the purpose of attracting more customers. They thought that people will be lured into a good lake view from this roof-top place and this would eventually increase the restaurant’s income.

It is due to the awareness of the public that administration came to know about this illegal construction and they were actually taken aback when they reached the park. Without any approval, a huge structure had been placed to be used as roof-top restaurant.
