The Australian tourist whose body was found on Shilpgram road was a patient of asthama. He had come to Udaipur to participate in a drug rehabilitation program.
Day before yesterday body of Michael James, a tourist from Australia, was found near Hari Pratap resort on Shilpgram road. Michael (59) was a patient of asthama and always carried his medicines with him. There is a probability that that he had an attack of asthama and in the absence of any medical aid on the road, he died.
As per investigating officer Ram Singh, Michael came to Udaipur on 28th July and stayed in Mewar Garh hotel in Chandpole area. He didn’t like the hotel and shifted to Rang Niwas Palace hotel where he stayed from 29th July to 7th August. Room no. 401 where Michael was staying was booked for some other guest from 8th August. The hotel management offered another room to Michael. Michael refused to shift to another room and changed the hotel instead. He shifted to Kajri Hotel on the 7th of August.
Around 3 p.m. on 19th August, Michael left from the hotel but did not return at all. Police is investigating CCTV footage to probe into the matter. He was identified on the basis of documents found from his pocket. Investigations are going on and the reasons behind Michael’s death will be made clear only after scrutinising the camera footage and other details.
Michael was male nurse by profession. After coming to Udaipur, he was constantly in contact with Dev Kishan who is part of Alankar Foundation, a drug rehabilitation company. As per Dev Kishan, he met Michael in 2009 in Mumbai in an event organised by Krupa Foundation. Michael was a male nurse and moved around to participate in events for social cause. After reaching Udaipur on 28th July Michael called up Dev Kishan. Dev informed him about the rehabilitation program that was being held in Rajsamand. Michael attended that program 5 to 6 times. Dev said that he was shocked to hear of Michael’s death. As per him, Michael was suffering from asthama and always carried his medicines with him.
