Pushpa Devi lost her husband, Shambhulal Aodh, a security guard at the Liberty Phosphate Ltd. Udaipur on 11th May, 2012, who fell off the roof of the factory’s garage, where they were accommodated by the factory management. According to Pushpa Devi, her husband had received a call and had suddenly felt dizzy, falling from the boundary wall. She said that the wall was only a foot high, which resulted in her husband’s death.
Shambhulal was then taken to Geetanjali Hospital where he was treated from March 3rd to March 9th. He was forced to be discharged however, as the hospital bill had reached Rs 2 Lakh. Aodh succumbed to his injuries on May 11th.
Liberty Phosphate Ltd’s management had promised to compensate the widow for the amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs, but are yet to provide anything.
The widow, who was forced to borrow money from her relatives, has had her house seized as she could not return the money. She has no means to repay her loans until the factory management reimburses her.
She has appealed for legal justice from the Udaipur Collectorate and will start a hunger strike till death, along with her kids if she does not receive the money she is entitled to soon.
