Trump-backer Elon Musk pledges $140 million to help re-elect the Republican candidate
October 26, 2024 – America’s wealthiest have dived into the country’s current election cycle in their own different ways as D-day for the election approaches. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has made a substantial donation of $50 million to Kamala Harris' campaign for the 2024 US elections, saying, "this election is different."
On the other hand, fellow billionaire Elon Musk has pledged to spend $140 million to help re-elect Donald Trump. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is said to be Donald Trump's biggest endorser.
“I support candidates who demonstrate a clear commitment to improving health care, reducing poverty and fighting climate change in the US and around the world,” Gates said in a statement. He pointed out that this election is particularly significant not just Americans but for all disadvantaged groups around the world.
US Presidential election is schedule for November 5, 2024. However, nearly 25 million voters have already cast their ballots, either through in-person early voting or mail-in ballots. Strong contenders for the post are Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald J. Trump.
