Woman Dies During Immigration Raid in US
The Department of Homeland Security has described the deceased, Renee Nicole Good, as a 'violent rioter' who tried to 'run over' ICE agents
Jan 8, 2026 – An immigration officer fatally shot a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis, US, on Wednesday (January 7) in what the government says was an act of “self-defence”. The incident, which happened in a major immigration crackdown by the Trump administration in the State of Minnesota, has caused widespread protests.
The Department of Homeland Security has described the deceased, Renee Nicole Good, as a "violent rioter" who tried to run over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has described the shooting as “reckless” and said in a statement that, “the presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city,” demanding that ICE leave the city immediately.
“We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities,” he added.
Good has been identified as a US national who was reportedly married and has a six-year-old son.
