US to Roll Back Tariffs Ruled Unlawful from Feb 24
The CBP said in a message that tariff collections under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) will cease at 12.01 am local US time (10.30 am IST) Tuesday
Feb 23, 2026 - The US will roll back on tariffs on imports which had been ruled unlawful by an order of the US Supreme Court from Tuesday, February 24, 2026,. This was indicated by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency in a message to shippers on its Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS).
The CBP message said that tariff collections under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) will cease at 12.01 am local US time (10.30 am IST) Tuesday. Importers were informed that all related tariff codes will be deactivated in its cargo systems.
This roll back applies only to tariffs which had been imposed under IEEPA and not to other tariffs including the Section 232 national-security powers and Action 301 unfair-trade statues.
The US Supreme Court had on February 20 called the imposition of reciprocal tariffs by US President Donald Trump as unlawful and struck it down with a 6-3 ruling.
Following the Court order, Trump retaliated by immediately announced at first a 10% blanket global tariff on US imports from all countries and then quickly raising it to 15%.
