A vatika has been penalised for throwing left-over food in lake. Despite the strictness and directives issued by the High Court about cleanliness of lakes in the city, the vatikas (marriage gardens) are disposing left-over food on the lake sides.

A similar incident came to light where Kanhaiya Vatika near Amba pole bridge threw food at the edge of the lake. The food started falling into the lake which was noticed by lake lovers on Sunday. A photograph was clicked and reported to Municipal Corporation. The team then visited the site and cleared the lake ghat. It was discovered that after a ceremony in Kanhaiya Vatika, the left-over food was thrown by the lake side by the organisers. This proved the negligent attitude of the organisers. The vatika owners have thence been penalised for polluting the lake and have been instructed to be careful in future.
