Intense mediation leads to resolution of dispute within the former Mewar royal family in Udaipur over entry into City Palace to perform royal rituals
Udaipur, November 28, 2024. The conflict within the former Mewar royal family now appears to be coming to an end after a tense standoff that erupted on November 25. The dispute had surfaced after the November 25 rajtilak (coronation) of Nathdwara BJP MLA Vishvaraj Singh Mewar following the demise of his father Maharana Mahendra Singh Mewar. When he went to the Udaipur City Palace to perform royal rituals he was denied entry because of a family feud with Shreeji Arvind Singh Mewar who manages the property.
After intense mediation, Maharana Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, his wife Mahima Kumari (MP from Rajsamand), their son and Maharaja Randhir Singh Bhinder of the Bhinder royal family finally entered the City Palace last evening amidst heavy security and performed Dhuni Darshan. This took place in the presence of District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal.
Earlier yesterday, at around 10:00 am Vishvaraj Singh Mewar performed the traditional ashw poojan (horse worship) and other rituals at the Samorbagh Palace. During this, his wife Mahima Kumari and hundreds of supporters were present. After the poojan, he traveled to Eklingji Temple to seek divine blessings. Following this, the shok bhang (ritual to end mourning) was held at his residence.
