It is quite shocking that Udaisagar Lake which is one of the most prominent drinking water sources has become over contaminated. It has been declared unhealthy even for washing purposes. The water quality has failed all the standard norms which makes it absolutely unfit and harmful.

It was stated that Central pollution Control board and Rajasthan state pollution control board are monitoring 196 water bodies, which includes Udaisagar Lake, under quality control. Under this, Udaisagar Lake investigation report stated that the water is not as per standard even for bathing and washing. This clearly hints that the water is over-contaminated. 

Apart from this it was also pointed out that 12 MLD of faecal waste is falling into Ayad River. All these figure clearly indicate that the water bodies are becoming contaminated and if not taken care of now they will become unfit for use. 

It is a matter of concern since Udaipur region has a lot of lakes and they provide drinking water to the masses. If all the lakes become contaminated and are not monitored strictly, the city will land into a huge trouble.
