5:00 pm: Saudi Arabia says it has intercepted 56 drones that entered the country's airspace since early on Friday, including one that attempted to approach the high-security diplomatic area in the capital, Riyadh.

At least one person was killed after an explosion occurred near an annual pro-government Quds Day rally supporting the Palestinian cause in Tehran, say reports.

NATO air and missile defence assets have shot down an Iranian missile fired into Turkish airspace, according to the country's Ministry of Defence.

3:30 pm: US Central Command has announced that four of the six crew on board one of its refuelling aircraft that crashed in western Iraq on Thursday have been killed. Authorities said the cause of the incident remains under investigation, but initial assessments indicate the crash was not the result of hostile or friendly fire. 

US CENTCOM said that rescue efforts were continuing for the remaining crew of the KC-135 refuelling aircraft that went down in western Iraq.

Bahrain’s Defence Ministry says its has intercepted 115 missiles and 191 drones since the start of the attacks. 

2:00 pm: Iran's IRGC has warned that any new anti-government protests in Iran would face a stronger crackdown than the unrest in January; in a statement broadcast on State TV  the IRGC warned that it would deliver “a stronger blow than on January 8” if protests break out again.

Two drones fell near a major southern Iraqi oil field, officials told AFP on Friday. Oil ministry spokesperson Saheb Bazoun said it was the first time the field had been targeted, adding that one drone exploded after crashing.

Two people were killed in an Israeli drone strike on the outskirts of Shebaa in southeastern Lebanon, say reports.

12:00 pm: Saudi Arabia Defence Ministry says its forces have downed a “hostile drone” heading towards the embassies district in Riyadh; three drones had also been intercepted in the Al-Kharj governate and the Empty Quarter desert.

Two expats have been killed in Oman after the downing of a drone in the al-Awahi industrial area, the State news agency has said. 

The Israel Defense Forces has said its air force carried out strikes on more than 200 targets in western and central Iran over the past 24 hours.

10:00 am: The war in West Asia entered its 14th day with no let up in retaliatory strikes. Iran continues to direct missiles and drones towards Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. US President Donald Trump says the war in Iran was “coming along very well”.

According to reports from Dubai, huge double blast rattled buildings and left a large cloud of black smoke hanging over a central district. Dubai Media Office said falling debris from interception of an aerial attack had caused minor damage to a building in central Dubai. No injuries were reported. Black smoke curled over the skyline as far as the Burj al-Arab.

A US KC-135 military refuelling aircraft, carrying at least five personnel, crashed in western Iraq on Thursday (March 12). The incident also involved another aircraft which, however, landed safely. The incident was not the result of hostile or friendly fire, according to the US Central Command.

Iran’s IRGC Navy has claimed its ballistic missiles struck the USS Abraham Lincoln, causing heavy damage and forcing the US aircraft carrier to retreat from Gulf waters. US has denied the claim.

In his first statement since becoming Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamanei has called for bases hosting US forces in the Gulf to close or attacks would continue.
