West Asia War Day 25: Trump Claims 'Deal', Iran Calls it 'Fake News'
Global confusion rises as Donald Trump claims productive talks with Iran while Tehran denies any ceasefire discussions; oil prices fall, markets react and tensions escalate
March 24, 2026 – US President Donald Trump’s claim that Iran wants to “make a deal” after “productive talks” and Tehran denying any discussion on a ceasefire have left the world confused with the stock market rallying and oil prices falling.
After announcing the five-day halt to the attacks, Trump also hinted that the Strait of Hormuz could be jointly controlled by him and the “Ayatollah”.
Meanwhile, a US official has clarified that the five-day pause only applies to Iran’s energy infrastructures. "It is not on the military sites and the navy, and the ballistic missiles, and the defense industrial base. The initial initiatives of (Operation) Epic Fury will continue," the official told a news agency.
Earlier, Trump had announced “very good” talks with Iran which was dismissed by the Islamic Republic as fake news and aimed at manipulating energy markets. Additionally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said that he spoke with Trump who believes that the US-Israeli military gains in Iran could be converted into a negotiated agreement that protected Israel’s interests.
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has denied any such talks with the US writing on a post on X, "No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped".
In the midst of all these speculations, new reports say Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are moving closer to backing military action against Iran because of repeated attacks on them by Iran that have disrupted their economies.
Meanwhile, the IRGC on Tuesday (March 24) announced the launch of its 78th phase of retaliatory campaign Operation True Promise 4 claiming to have carried out fresh strikes on “highly sensitive” Israeli targets, including Dimona, Tel Aviv and Eilat, along with US-linked sites.
A missile alert was sound in Israel on Tuesday morning and the public was directed to enter a sheltered space and remain there until further notice.
