West Asia war enters Day 31 as an Indian worker is killed in an Iranian attack in Kuwait; US President Donald Trump says he wants to “take the oil in Iran” while Iran has warned against ground attacks

March 30, 2026 – The West Asia war involving the US, Israel and Iran has entered its 31st day with hostilities intensifying and death toll rising. An Indian national was killed in Kuwait on Sunday (March 29) in an Iranian attack on a power and desalination facility in the Gulf nation.

"A service building at a power and water desalination plant was attacked as part of the Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, resulting in the death of an Indian worker and significant material damage to the building," said Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, a spokesperson for the country’s Electricity Ministry.

In another latest update, the US President Donald Trump has, in an interview, said that wants to “take the oil in Iran” adding that he could seize Kharg Island “easily”. He also remarked that “some stupid people back in the US say: ‘why are you doing that?’”

As per a Reuters report, on Sunday, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, “I think we’ll make a deal with them, I’m pretty sure, but it’s possible we won’t.”

Iran has accused Trump of plotting a ground attack and that the country was prepared for it. Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf has slammed the US saying that while on the one hand it was speaking of a peace deal but was secretly working towards a ground attack. Iran has warned of attacks on US-linked universities in the Gulf countries after two Iranian institutions were destroyed. The country’s Red Crescent Society has said that about 600 educational centres have been hit.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is continuing its efforts to broker a peace deal between the US and Iran with Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia expected to be a part of it.

The Israeli strikes on Iran continue while Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain have seen retaliatory missile and drone strikes from Iran. Kuwait has reported shooting down five drones.
