Meta owned WhatsApp and Instagram were restored within three hours of global outage, which began began before midnight of 4 April for users in India.
WhatsApp and Instagram, were down for users across the globe, beginning 2316hrs IST on 3 April. Instagram began misbehaving much earlier, around 2215hrs. This is the second time that these Meta owned platforms have faced outage in the last one month. The company took to Twitter to inform users of getting things back up and running.

Users on WhatsApp during this period were unable to send messages or recieve, prompting them to go online and check Downdetector. Within a few minutes Downdetector reported multiple instances of both WhatsApp and Instagram giving trouble. Users trying to log in to WhatsApp web were unable to do so facing an error message and those in Insta were unable to refresh their feed or see stories.
