Certain media sections have been reportedly circulating news that banks will operate only 5 days a week. It was also said that the new 5-day schedule would be effective from the 1^st of June. However, RBI has not issued any such directions.

The media also said that RBI issued 5-days a week schedule for commercial banks. RBI in a release clarified that the news is not factually correct. It may be noted that commercial bank branches stay closed on second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Public is hereby informed that no instructions have been issued by Reserve Bank of India in this matter.
