The country is facing the worst ever phase of corona outbreak. It is infecting masses drastically with too many lives lost every day creating depression for many. Nationwide lockdown is the only way out as of now seems to restrict the chain of this virus.

Options are being discussed about nationwide lockdown and The Union Health Ministry has not ruled out the possibility of a complete down. Experts and political leaders are advocating a nationwide lockdown following the shortage of medical supplies and oxygen. Amid the seriousness and the sudden surge in covid cases and the number of deaths, it is being said that countrywide lockdown is the only option to stem the spread of corona virus. Kerala has already introduced a complete lockdown till 16th May.

Dr Anthony Fauci, America’s top public health expert termed the condition of Indi as “very desperate”. He suggested the government to marshal all its resources, including armed forces, to build make-shift hospitals. He has also urged all other countries to come forward and help India in every possible way.

Whether the government takes a decision of complete lockdown or not, the question is will the public actually adhere to the guidelines stated by the government? Even if the administration restricts wedding functions and even prohibits them entirely what is the surety that public will actually follow mandates when the limitation of 31 people in a wedding function was overstepped by some.

Unless the government becomes extremely strict with people breaking rules and unless people understand that it is their duty, too, to follow rules to break the virus chain, the war cannot be won. Vaccination is also an important part and it is need of the hour that people must give up their fears and get vaccinated at the earliest. Government must also make sure that the vaccines are made available and that not a single dose gets wasted.
