Winter Smashed By Rain: Breaks Past 50 Years’ Record

It’s more than 10 days now, the city of lakes is witnessing a series of unseasonal rain showers. Normally by the month of November the winter season has commenced, this time, however, rains have disturbed the lives of people of Udaipur. With a considerable drop, temperature touched the mark of 13°Celsius in past 24 hours forcing people to wrap themselves in woolen and engage their hands with umbrella which is quiet uncommon for Udaipurites.

Breaking the record of past 50 years, in last 24 hours different parts of Udaipur district have received continuous rain showers. As provided by the concerned authorities, Udaisagar 11 mm, Vallabhnagar 14 mm, Bagolia 23 mm, Jadhol 14mm, Ogna 23mm and  Udaipur received 12 mm of rain until 24 hours which was ended at 12 noon 23/11/2010.

Since 5th of November 2010, Udaipur has received 95mm of rain. More rain is expected till the end of November which might extend till first week of December 2010.

It is considered to be good for Kharif crops but access rain can also damage agricultural lands of Udaipur.

The months of November, December and January are also best for wedding ceremonies and lots of such functions start from this month. From unconfirmed sources more than 100 wedding gardens have been booked for today. These celebrations might be affected due to the chilling weather and uncertain rain.

Tibetan Market of woolen outfits at Samor Bagh is jam packed with people shopping jackets, sweaters and other woolen garments. Generally such rush is always expected by mid December but this time it is a matter of good luck for Tibetan shop keepers who seasonally settle in Udaipur every winter.
