A mob of protesters who were demonstrating from the past 15 days in-front of Wolkem’s Khera Mines, Bekaria, set a Diesel Truck ablaze today evening.

It is understood that the labour at the Khera Mines of Wolkem India Limited, an Udaipur based minerals conglomerate are on strike for want of meeting some of their wants is pending.

The Bekaria Police Station team along with Deputy of Kotda Police and additional squads reached the scene, when the protestors fled to the upper hilly regions of the area.  The protesters were employees of the mines itself and nearby villagers.

In the recent past, a complaint was also lodged by Udham Singh, GM, Khera Mines on 4th Jan, 2013 at Bekria Police Station that neither anyone was working inside the mines nor any transportation was able to pass through the entrance and exit of the mine as the protestors were blocking the path.

Today, when there was a fuel shortfall in the mines, a Diesel truck came out in the evening to procure Diesel and other things.  The propeller shaft in the meanwhile broke and the vehicle was stranded in the mid of the road.  The Protestors stationed outside the mines, were equipped with guns and swords then lit the truck and a few areas of the mine on fire.

It has been stated that the protestors are demonstrating in-front of the mines from the past 15 days while some of the workers who live in quarters inside the mine are still working.
