Women protested against wine shop being run in a restaurant in Mallatalai area.

As per news, women in Mallatalai area got agitated with this newly opened shop and forced the shop owner to bring down the shutters for some time. Police reached the site and took control of the situation.

The whole issue rested on the fact that the wine shop was being run under the banner of a restaurant. When women of that area got to know about this newly opened wine shop, they did a show down and blocked traffic in that area. The shop owner was interrogated by the police following which residents of this area said that they will take up the matter with the excise department.

There are schools and religious shrines near the area where this shop was put up. Previously also there was wine shop here which had to be closed down following protest by residents. As per public, people collect outside the wine shop and there have been incidents of eve teasing. Excise department does not bother to look into the location of wine shops which do not even follow standard norms, complained the residents.

On the other hand, it has been said that this particular wine shop was previously located in Fatehpura area and was shifted to Mallatalai and all norms were followed. The shop owner said that he had not repainted the shop which was initially a restaurant and hence the confusion of wine shop being run in a restaurant.
