Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas holds a video conference on Tuesday, October 5, with World Bank Executive Director Neelkanth Mishra
UdaipurTimes, Oct 8, 2026 - Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas held a video conference on Tuesday, October 5, with World Bank Executive Director Neelkanth Mishra at the Government Secretariat, Jaipur, where various economic and developmental reforms in the State were discussed.
Mishra said Rajasthan has significant potential in the tourism sector. He suggested analysing the length of tourists’ stays in the State and their spending patterns so that tourism facilities and infrastructure can be developed according to demand. He also stressed the need to showcase the State’s handicraft products on a larger scale, promote art and culture and expand homestay facilities.
The World Bank official particularly emphasised promoting immersive and experience tourism in the tourism sector. Unlike conventional tourism, experience-based travel allows visitors to engage more deeply with a destination’s culture, history and the everyday lives of local communities.
The meeting also included discussions on securing financial assistance from the World Bank for a project related to the better utilisation of water resources under the Yamuna Water Agreement.
Mishra said that in view of the rapid pace of urbanisation in Rajasthan, there is a need to further strengthen infrastructure. He assured that the World Bank would make the necessary recommendations for providing financial assistance for development projects across various sectors, with the objective of making Rajasthan a developed and self-reliant State.
