October 03, 2026: BMW Motorrad has added another model to its new generation of mid-range motorcycles. The company has launched the new BMW F 450 R in the international market. It is a street-focused naked roadster motorcycle that shares several key mechanical components with the F 450 GS adventure bike on the same platform.

The new F 450 R is set to replace the entry-level model in BMW Motorrad's roadster range. Until now, this position was occupied by the G 310 R, which has already been dropped from the company's current roadster lineup.

420 cc Parallel-Twin Engine

The new BMW F 450 R uses a 420 cc parallel-twin engine. This engine is also used in the F 450 GS, and the power and torque figures are the same on both motorcycles.

The engine produces a maximum power of 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Although the new roadster is quite powerful in terms of performance, its main goal is to provide a sporty riding experience along with fast and controlled riding on city roads.

The tubular steel frame of the F 450 GS is paired with the engine. Here, the engine itself has been used as a stressed member of the frame. As a result, BMW has tried to maintain chassis rigidity while keeping the weight under control.

43 mm USD Fork, Monoshock at the Rear

In terms of suspension, there is a 43 mm KYB USD fork at the front, while a KYB monoshock is used at the rear. Braking is handled by a 310 mm disc and a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper at the front. There is a 240 mm disc at the rear.

As a result, special attention has been paid to providing strong braking performance during sporty riding. The standard seat height is 790 mm. However, keeping riders of different heights in mind, BMW has made a 775 mm lower seat and an 810 mm taller seat available as accessories.

It Is Also Rich in Standard Features

Like the F 450 GS, the new F 450 R also gets heated grips as standard. There is also a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster. The TFT display offers navigation and music controls along with Bluetooth connectivity.

As a result, riders can access important information and entertainment features during the ride by connecting their smartphones.

BMW F 450 R Has Four Trims

The new BMW F 450 R will be available in a total of four trims. These are:

  • Base trim

  • Exclusive trim

  • M Sport

  • M Sport with Innovation Package

The entry-level base trim will be available in Cosmic Black and will get the standard feature package of the motorcycle. The next trim will add a bi-directional quickshifter. In addition, BMW's sport suspension will be provided, with both rebound and compression damping adjustable.

More Sporty Features in M Sport Trims

The two M Sport variants of the F 450 R will have a Dynamic Pro riding mode. This mode can be configured according to the rider's needs. In addition, there is a separate setup for the TFT display in the M Sport models.

Not only general riding information but also additional details, such as the level of traction control activation, braking force, bike lean angle, and lap timer, can be viewed on the display.

The top-end M Sport with Innovation Package trim also gets BMW's Easy Ride Clutch System. This technology is also available in the F 450 GS. It allows the rider to ride the motorcycle without using the clutch lever in certain situations.

When Will the BMW F 450 R Come to India?

At the moment, BMW Motorrad has not announced the exact launch date or price of the F 450 R in India. However, the F 450 GS came to the Indian market relatively quickly after its international launch. Therefore, it is expected that an announcement about the Indian launch of the F 450 R may also be made in the next few months. However, this is not yet confirmed.

The current price of the BMW F 450 GS in India starts at ₹4.95 lakh. Since the new F 450 R is a roadster, it could be positioned below the F 450 GS in the Indian market. However, information regarding the Indian price and variants is not confirmed until BMW Motorrad officially announces it.

With a 420 cc twin-cylinder engine, 48 hp of power, Brembo brakes, a USD fork, and multiple electronic riding features, the F 450 R could become BMW's new competitor in the mid-power premium naked motorcycle segment if it comes to the Indian market.
