BMW F 450 R Teased Ahead of October 1 Debut: Check Expected Price, Engine and Features

September 25, 2026: BMW Motorrad is set to introduce a new model to the middleweight streetfighter motorcycle market. The company has recently released a teaser of a new sporty motorcycle on its social media channels. Although the name of the bike has not been revealed directly, it is believed to be the upcoming BMW F 450 R.

This new motorcycle could be a street-naked bike based on the BMW F 450 GS platform. As a result, it could combine adventure bike technology with a more compact and aggressive roadster design.

What Could the BMW F 450 R Be Like?

When the F 450 R hits the market, it could become one of BMW Motorrad's most affordable streetfighter motorcycles. The teaser shows the bike's silhouette. Although it has some similarities with the F 450 GS, the bike's stance appears to be much sportier and more compact.

In keeping with its streetfighter character, it could feature a relatively low riding position, a muscular fuel tank, exposed mechanical components and a sporty tail section. BMW could offer a design suited for easy city riding and quick cornering. The bike's compact proportions in the teaser also hint at this possibility.

420cc Twin-Cylinder Engine

The BMW F 450 R could use the same 420cc parallel-twin engine as the F 450 GS. The F 450 GS produces around 48 PS and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

However, the F 450 R's engine could be tuned differently for its streetfighter character. BMW could tweak the engine mapping and gearing to provide quicker throttle response on city roads and faster acceleration out of corners. As a result, there could be differences in the riding experience between the F 450 GS and F 450 R despite both motorcycles using the same engine.

There May Be Changes to the Chassis and Suspension

The new F 450 R may share some hardware with the F 450 GS. This could include some chassis and braking components. However, since it is expected to be a road-focused streetfighter rather than an adventure bike, there could be changes to the suspension setup.

BMW may use a relatively low ride height and road-focused suspension tuning. This could make the motorcycle easier to control on busy city roads and during low-speed manoeuvres. At the same time, the handling could be tuned to deliver a more engaging experience during sporty riding.

What Features Will It Have?

So far, BMW has not released the complete feature list of the F 450 R. As a result, we will have to wait for the official unveiling to know which electronics, riding modes, traction control, ABS and other electronic safety features the bike will offer.

Since it is expected to share its roots with the BMW F 450 GS platform, the new motorcycle could feature a modern instrument cluster and several electronic riding assistance systems. However, none of these features has been confirmed yet.

Global Debut on October 1

BMW Motorrad is likely to officially unveil the new F 450 R on October 1, 2026. The bike's complete design, engine tuning, features, suspension, weight and other technical details are expected to be revealed at that time.

The bike is expected to arrive in India next year. However, BMW India has not yet announced a specific launch date for the motorcycle.

How Much Could It Cost?

When launched in India, the BMW F 450 R is expected to start at around ₹4.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. However, this is only an expected price, and the final price has not been announced.

If it is launched close to this price, the Aprilia Tuono 457 could be one of its main rivals. As a result, the BMW F 450 R could add more competition to the 450cc to 500cc sports and streetfighter motorcycle segment.

A compact size, parallel-twin engine, sporty design and BMW's brand recognition could be the main attractions of the F 450 R. However, a clearer idea about the motorcycle's actual performance, features and price will be available after its global unveiling on October 1.
