Kia Carens Clavis Gets New Automatic Variants and 15-Year EV Battery Warranty
Kia has updated the Carens Clavis lineup with new automatic variants, a long-term EV battery warranty and CNG pre-bookings ahead of the festive season.
September 18, 2026: Ahead of the festive season, Kia India has introduced a major update to the Carens Clavis lineup in the Indian market. The company has added automatic gearbox options to multiple variants of the mid-range MPV. At the same time, Kia has introduced a long-term battery warranty for the Carens Clavis EV.
The latest update makes automatic versions of the Carens Clavis available with both petrol and diesel powertrains. For the electric model, the battery warranty period for the first private owner has also been significantly extended, offering additional coverage for long-term ownership.
15-Year Unlimited-Kilometre Warranty on Carens Clavis EV
The new battery warranty for the Kia Carens Clavis EV applies to the first private owner of a new vehicle purchased from August 1, 2026. Under the new policy, the battery will be covered for up to 15 years with unlimited kilometres.
This warranty benefit is applicable to individual buyers. However, the existing warranty terms will continue to apply to commercial users, fleet owners and subsequent owners.
For these customers, the battery warranty remains valid for eight years or 1.6 lakh kilometres, whichever comes first. The Carens Clavis EV is the second Kia model to receive this extended battery warranty, following the Kia Syros EV.
Carens Clavis EV Priced From Rs 18.04 Lakh
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is priced in India from Rs 18.04 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom. The electric MPV is available with two battery pack options.

Automatic Option Now Available With HTE and HTE (O)
The biggest change in the ICE lineup of the Carens Clavis is the expansion of automatic powertrain options. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) is now available with the HTE (EX) and HTE (O) variants.
The HTE (O) variant also gets an automatic transmission option with the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The newly added automatic variants come with features such as a smart key and selectable drive modes.
With these additions, buyers looking for an automatic Carens Clavis now have more variants to choose from across petrol and diesel powertrains.
Cheapest Carens Clavis Automatic Starts at Rs 14.67 Lakh
Following the latest update, the HTE (O) has become the most affordable automatic variant of the Carens Clavis. The new automatic variants are priced as follows:

The addition of these variants has widened the automatic range of the Carens Clavis compared with the previous lineup. It also gives buyers more flexibility when choosing between petrol and diesel automatic versions.
Kia Carens Clavis CNG Coming Soon
Kia's next major update for the Carens Clavis lineup is expected to be the CNG version. The company has already started pre-bookings for the factory-fitted CNG model in India.
The price of the Carens Clavis CNG is expected to be announced by the end of September or in early October. The model is likely to use Kia's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The CNG version could provide another option for buyers looking for a large MPV with potentially lower running costs. With the addition of CNG, the Carens Clavis family could soon offer petrol, diesel, electric and CNG powertrain choices.
Kia Expands Carens Clavis Powertrain Options
With the latest update, Kia has focused on three key areas of the Carens Clavis lineup: expanding automatic powertrain options, extending the battery warranty for the electric model and preparing to introduce a CNG version.
The changes give customers more choices across different powertrains and ownership requirements. During the festive season, the Carens Clavis lineup could therefore offer four powertrain options — petrol, diesel, electric and CNG.
