Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric India Launch: Check Price, Range and Features

September 29, 2026: Mercedes-Benz is bringing a new model to the Indian premium electric SUV market. The company has said that the new GLC Electric will be launched in India on November 4, 2026. The car will be locally manufactured and assembled at the company’s Pune facility.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the GLC Electric will come to India as a locally assembled model within just six months of its launch in Europe. It will be available in the 400 4MATIC variant in the Indian market. Bookings for the car are expected to start in October.

490 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque

The GLC Electric 400 4MATIC for the international market has dual electric motors. Together, these motors produce 490 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The electric SUV, which weighs around 2.5 tonnes, is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds. The car comes with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, with electric motors supplying power to both axles.

94 kWh battery, range of 715 km

The international-specification GLC Electric 400 4MATIC has a 94 kWh battery pack. Its WLTP-certified range is up to 715 km. For fast charging, the car supports up to 330 kW of DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims that the car can add up to 300 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. However, it remains to be seen whether all the specifications of the international model will remain unchanged in the Indian version.

Rear-axle steering and air suspension

In the international market, the GLC Electric 400 4MATIC comes with 4.5-degree rear-axle steering. It also gets air suspension. Rear-axle steering can help reduce the turning radius at low speeds and improve stability at higher speeds. However, it has not yet been fully revealed which features will be offered as standard on the Indian model.

Eye-catching design on the outside

One of the biggest design highlights of the GLC Electric is its lighting. At the front, there is a large grille with rounded edges and illuminated elements. It is accompanied by star-shaped LED DRLs and projector LED headlamps. The Mercedes-Benz logo at the front is also illuminated.

The sides of the car feature flush-fitting door handles and relatively narrow wheel-arch cladding. The international model is available with alloy wheels of up to 21 inches. At the rear, there are star-shaped LED tail-lamps with a rounded design. Gloss-black trim connects the tail-lamps on both sides. The rear also gets a solid 3D Mercedes-Benz badge.

An AMG Line version of the 400 4MATIC is also available in the international market. It gets a more aggressive grille and a sportier alloy wheel design.

39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen on the dashboard

One of the biggest attractions of the cabin is the massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. Mercedes-Benz claims that it is the largest display it has ever used in a car. The driver display, infotainment touchscreen and a separate display for the front passenger are combined into one large unit. The system runs on the fourth-generation MBUX interface and comes with a built-in AI assistant.

While many modern electric cars rely heavily on touchscreens for controls, the GLC Electric also has physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console. The car has seating for five people.

The price may be between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric in India is likely to be priced between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom). Since the car will be assembled locally in India, local production could play an important role in determining its price. However, the final price will be announced at the time of its launch on November 4.

The GLC Electric's arrival in India will bring new competition to the premium electric SUV segment. One of its potential rivals is the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, which is scheduled to launch in India in 2027. With bookings expected to begin in October and the launch set for November 4, 2026, Mercedes-Benz's new GLC Electric is set to be an important addition to the Indian electric car market.
