October 10, 2026: Triumph has unveiled the next-generation Tiger 1200 adventure motorcycle with several major updates to its engine, chassis, electronics and design. The new model is powered by a 1,160cc, three-cylinder engine that produces 158hp and 130Nm of torque. It also features front and rear radar systems, adaptive cruise control and automatic seat-height lowering technology. Triumph has confirmed that the motorcycle will launch in India in March 2027. The GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants will be introduced in the Indian market.

The New Triumph Tiger 1200 Gets a More Powerful Engine

The new Triumph Tiger 1200 uses a 1,160cc, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine that produces 158hp at 9,250rpm and 130Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. This represents an increase of 8hp over the previous model. The engine has also been tuned to deliver strong torque at relatively low engine speeds.

To achieve these improvements, Triumph has updated the cylinder head, pistons and exhaust system. The intake and exhaust valves are also lighter than before. The fuel delivery system has been improved, while the ratios of the first three gears have been revised. The six-speed gearbox and shaft-drive system have also received refinements.

The motorcycle's design has been updated as well. The fuel tank, radiator cowls, front headlight and windscreen have been revised. However, the new model retains the familiar overall design of the previous Tiger 1200.

Four Variants With 19-Inch Front Wheels

The new Tiger 1200 will be available in four variants internationally: GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro and Rally Explorer. One of the key changes is that all four variants now feature a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel.

The GT variants come with cast aluminium wheels, while the Rally models feature spoked wheels designed for adventure riding. The weight also varies across the range. The GT Pro weighs 250kg, the Rally Pro weighs 255kg, the GT Explorer weighs 260kg, and the Rally Explorer weighs 268kg.

Automatic Seat-Height Lowering Technology

The new Tiger 1200 features a Showa suspension system with a 49mm upside-down (USD) front fork and a rear monoshock. Both offer 200mm of suspension travel. The rear suspension also features automatic self-levelling preload.

The suspension system can adjust compression and rebound damping using information from multiple sensors, including a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). This allows the suspension response to adapt to road conditions and the motorcycle's movements.

Another major addition is the automatic ride-height function, which lowers the seat by 30mm when the motorcycle comes to a stop. Triumph claims the seat height can be reduced to 790mm with the optional low seat and the automatic lowering function activated. This feature could make it easier for riders to place their feet firmly on the ground when stopping, particularly on a large adventure motorcycle.

Front and Rear Radars, Adaptive Cruise Control

One of the biggest upgrades to the new Tiger 1200 is its front and rear radar system. The technology supports several rider-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, group ride assist, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist and blind-spot assist.

These systems are designed to improve rider awareness and provide additional support during long journeys. However, they do not replace the need for attention and safe riding practices.

The motorcycle also gets a new 7-inch TFT touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. These features allow riders to access compatible smartphone functions and navigation information while travelling.

Explorer Variants Get a Larger 30-Litre Fuel Tank

The GT Pro and Rally Pro variants come with a 20-litre fuel tank. In comparison, the GT Explorer and Rally Explorer feature a larger 30-litre tank, which could be useful for long-distance touring.

The Explorer models also come with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), an additional lower engine bar, and handlebars that are 10mm higher and 10mm wider. Heated seats for both the rider and passenger, along with three-level heated grips, are standard across the range. These features can improve comfort during long rides and in cold weather.

For braking, the new Tiger 1200 gets twin 320mm front discs with Brembo Stylema calipers and a 282mm rear disc.

India Launch in March 2027: What Could Be the Price?

Triumph has confirmed that the new Tiger 1200 will launch in India in March 2027. The GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants are expected to be offered in the country. This means Indian buyers will initially get two of the four variants available internationally.

Triumph India's website currently lists the previous Tiger 1200 range with prices starting at ₹19.39 lakh. However, these prices apply to the 2024 model-year (MY24) versions. The new model could cost more because of its upgraded engine, radar-based technology, advanced suspension and additional features. Triumph has not yet announced the official Indian prices.

With its more powerful engine, front and rear radar systems, automatic seat-height lowering technology and improved electronics, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 brings several important upgrades to the adventure-touring segment. Buyers will have to wait until its India launch in March 2027 for the final prices and complete details of the models offered in the country.
