Pet insurance is now being felt as a necessity and not a luxury by most pet owners these days. It not only lessens the financial burden of the treatment process when pets fall ill, but also includes coverage for compensation in case they bite someone. Reimbursement is also provided if the pet is stolen.

In Jaipur and other urban areas within the state, pet insurance coverage for dogs and cats is becoming increasingly available. Cities like Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer and Jodhpur are showing a spike in pet insurance queries though coverage number in these cities is still less.

Currently, there are around 250 insured pets in Jaipur, but the number is expected to rise in the future. Insurance is available for dogs aged between three months to seven years. Similarly, insurance is available for cats aged three months to seven years. Both domestic and foreign cats are eligible for insurance coverage. No coverage is there for dogs beyond 10 years of age.

If the animal is admitted to a hospital, the insurance company provides daily coverage ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 2,500.
