October 19, 2026: The demand for SUVs in India is growing rapidly, and Renault is planning to expand its car lineup to meet this demand. The new three-row Renault Bigster SUV could launch in India in the first half of next year. In international markets, the SUV is sold under the Dacia brand. However, in India, it is expected to be launched under the Renault brand. The Bigster will be larger than the new Renault Duster and is likely to offer both six- and seven-seat configurations, making it suitable for families.

Design and Space

As its name suggests, the Renault Bigster is a large SUV. Measuring around 4.6 metres in length, it features LED lights, a wide front bumper, a tall stance, square wheel arches and strong roof rails. The SUV is expected to offer around 210 mm of ground clearance.

The six-seat version is likely to feature captain seats in the second row, while the seven-seat version may come with a bench seat. The third row is also expected to get AC vents and charging ports for added passenger comfort.

Two Powerful Engine Options

The Renault Bigster is expected to offer two engine options. The first could be a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with strong hybrid technology and a 1.4 kWh battery. This setup is expected to produce 160 hp of power and 172 Nm of torque.

The second option could be a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 160 hp of power and 270 Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be available with a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

Features and Safety

The Renault Bigster is expected to feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats.

For safety, the SUV could offer six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The Renault Bigster is expected to launch in India in the first half of next year, with an estimated price range of ₹15 lakh to ₹25 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with SUVs such as the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV 7XO.

With its three-row seating, modern features and expected hybrid and turbo-petrol engine options, the Bigster could be an appealing choice for buyers looking for a spacious family SUV.
