Laxmi bai Goswami, a 107 yr old lady caught everyone’s attention as she walked out after casting her vote at Dingri in Sarada sub-division of Udaipur. Incidentally, another 105 yr old lady Kuri bai could not cast her vote since her identity card was with her son who was not around.

Laxmi bai is an inspiration for all ages to exercise their right to vote and to select their representatives. Laxmi bai has 2 sons and 3 daughters.

105 yr old Kuri bai however had to go back disappointed. She has a poor vision but is physically fit otherwise. A mother of 3 sons and 4 daughters, Kuri bai has her fourth generation running. Despite her age, her enthusiasm for casting vote and selecting her representative is still young.

The local representatives there said that quite a few people like Kuri bai could not cast their vote despite their enthusiasm. This was either because their name was missing from the voter list or they could not bring a valid id proof.
