Iron Man of Udaipur Jitendra Patel set a new record by cycling across 683 kilometers in 28 hours 27 minutes and 17 seconds.
An avid cyclist, Iron Man winner and ultra cyclist, Jitendra started his journey from Amar Jawan Jyoti at Jaipur with a mission of promoting "Har Ghar Tiranga" movement of the government.
Jitendra took the Golden Triangle route and succesfully completed the 683 kilometers long cycle journey in a record time of 28 hours 27 minutes 17 seconds. He had taken on this mission with a target of 30 hours, but extra effort along the way, helped with good weather helped him to complete the route much earlier than the targeted duration. The journey was not expected to be easy and Jitendra said that after he had completed 360 km, which was near midway, his cycle broke down.
Earlier, Jitendra began his journey at 0630hrs on Saturday, 13 August after touching Agra and Delhi, returned back to Jaipur at 1530hrs on Sunday, 14 August. The Golden Triangle is name given to the road between Jaipur, Agra and Delhi. Jitendra, with his companions that included National level cyclists Trilok Kumar Swami, Digvijay Singh, Himani Patel, Luv Dev Bagdi and Hiransh Kothari, travelled non stop for 21 hours and reached Delhi, where they were given a warm welcome.
He will be honoured by the members of Udaipur Cycling Association, Lakecity Cycling Club and Lakecity Runners Club at Udaipur on Monday as the Nation celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
Jitendra Patel, a 33 year old businessman from Udaipur runs a Chemical and Fertilizer manufacturing unit and is an avid cyclist. He is also an endurance cyclist, runner and triathlete (Iron Man). Jitendra, who is a fitness freak, began cycling 5 years back and during these many years, has participated in the following cycling trips:
