6th Pass self made Engineer invents Multipurpose Drill MachineIt is an exceptional tale of extreme mechanism prepared by a man who received his education only till 6th grade and lived under the category of ‘Below Poverty Line’.

The hardcore experience and exposure of working under several sectors for 28 years inspired Bansilal Meghwal, resident of Debari Udaipur to invent a Multipurpose Drill Machine, which is now patented by Government of India.

Meghwal’s Multipurpose Drill Machine can do eight tasks and can be operated as a Drill Machine, Grinding Cutter Machine, Stand Grinder Machine, Wood Cutter Machine, Stone Cutter Machine, Lathe Machine, Buffer Polish Machine and Iron Plate Cutting machine.

When asked how this machine was made and what the difference between other machines was, Bansilal Meghwal said, “My machine does not have any sliding or round gear system which is very common in other machines, such gear systems are not durable.”

“I replaced the gear system with wire rope pulley; this technology is not available in any such machines. Wire rope pulley gives long life to the machine”, he explained.

He further said, “The biggest difference is that you can do 8 types of works from one machine. Also, maintenance cost is very low; all the spare parts used in it are easily available in the market. Most importantly, this machine can be used in single phase power while other machines are used in three phase power connection.”

Born and brought up in a poor family of a labour, Bansilal has 7 brothers and sisters.

His ambition rose to a new height in January 2012 when his 28 years of work experience reaped fruit. His invention of the Multipurpose Drill Machine was successfully tested and later got patented in February 2013.

Now, Meghwal has made a systematic project to expand his skills and is trying to launch his machine in the local market.

He said, “I have calculated the investment cost and also penned the proposal of how to raise the funds. One machine will cost around Rs.35000 and I will make 30 such machines and send it to different states”.

Although, Multipurpose Drill Machine is the best invention of Meghwal till now, but it is certainly not his first time. His other machines are successfully equipped and working in several factories and industries like his Wrinch Machine System is equipped in Hindustan Zinc Plant (Debari) for past 15 years, his rolling machines are installed in industrial workshops for past five years and several other machineries are also being used in industries.

How he got so much knowledge without getting higher education?

“Experience” He said. Bansilal started working as a helper in RCC and Rod cutting in 1985, thereafter he worked as a bike mechanic, heavy motor vehicle repairing, worked as a conductor of bus, worked in Industrial Tin Shade Fabrication and Erection and got exposed to wielding, drilling, cutting, and using several machines in zinc plant, fertilizer, acid plant, cement plant, marble mines and got involved in dozens of other technical works.

Meghwal told UT that several years ago, he saw a machine which was multipurpose but not exactly what he made. That appliance inspired him to invent Multipurpose Drill Machine.

Hard work, dedication and focus led Meghwal to succeed which also pounds the debate about the way to success – Experience and Passion to do something or Classroom Education and following the common stream of crowd.
